Gluck Fellows in the Schools

Gluck Fellows in the Schools and Sites around Riverside

The Gluck Fellows Program of the Arts at UC Riverside brings talented UCR students into the most underserved areas of the Riverside community to provide free performance and arts education experiences.  Outreach efforts are concentrated in schools, particularly elementary. Schools must be within a 20 minute drive of UCR, and free and open to the public.

Gluck Fellow Visits to Schools - Gluck Fellow programs are organized into two categories and paired with the best locations: Performance Ensembles, including the Theatre Improv Troupe and music ensembles, perform in school assemblies and Individual Fellow Workshops, where Fellows develop a hands-on curriculum related to their specialization work designed for a classroom environment.  We have opportunities for ASK Residencies, where a fellow does a series of workshops with the same class or year group, and fellows who make single visits to classes.  We always prefer to visit all the classes in a grade so all children in the year group are enriched in the subject.

School visits to UCR - each year the Gluck Program invites a school to visit for a Gluck VIP Day.  We invite children and chaperones from the school for  two  hours of Gluck programming on campus.   We welcome our Gluck schools to express an interest in being invited for a VIP Day.  If your school also has access to transportation, we can arrange Gluck programming on your visit to UCR. All visiting schools must be on the UCR Risk Management Approved School District list. Please contact the Gluck Office if you would like to come visit.

Becoming a Gluck School - please follow the link to Site Resources, where the application process as well as Site Resources Form and Site Coordinator's Handbook will explain the process. All sites must be within 20 minutes of UCR. School Districts and other hosting venues: All hosting venues must complete a Service Agreement between UCR and the School District / hosting venue.

The myriad of arts programming the Gluck Fellows Program has brought to the Riverside Community for more than 20 years is driven by a core belief that open access to the arts is one of the fundamental components of healthy communities.
