About OPA! Fellowship

OPA! - Outreach Performing Artist – fellowships are provided by the UCR Gluck office to talented undergraduate and graduate students to perform in public and community spaces around Riverside. OPA! fellowships are $120 for each session.

We are looking for talented Undergraduate and Graduate students to audition and perform in public and community spaces around Riverside: Actors, Dancers, Musicians, Storytellers, Magicians, Solo Acts, Ensembles, Etc. OPA! Fellowships are granted based on an approved project proposal and interest shown

Performances can be a solo performer or ensemble of student. Each Participant in the ensemble or each fellow participant earns $120 OPA! Fellowship per event. Multiple performances are possible throughout the year. There are no support funds for performers outside of the $120 Fellowship.

After the UCR Gluck office approves a student proposed program in the audition, student will provide a brief description of their act or program and must fill out all required paperwork prior to first performance. Performers must provide their own instruments, transportation, and other performance support. If you have any more questions, or you would like to schedule an audition, contact us. The UCR Gluck office is located in UCR Interdisciplinary Building. The Gluck office at UCR will organize venues, dates, and confirm bookings after your audition is approved.

OPA! fellowships are given to UCR students for community arts outreach activities. Participation in eligible student org activities include arts outreach with Mosaic and Spotlight on Hope.

Eligibility Criteria:

All undergraduate and graduate students who are currently registered at UCR main campus are eligible to apply. UCR Extension students are not eligible. We are looking for talented Undergraduate and Graduate students to audition and perform in public and community spaces around Riverside: Actors, Dancers, Musicians, Storytellers, Magicians, Solo Acts, Ensembles, Etc.

Application and the Fellowship Procedure:

In order to apply, please contact the UCR Gluck Office. To read the OPA! handbook please click here. The OPA! fellowship procedure is as follows
  1. Student contacts the UCR Gluck office and expresses their interest.
  2. UCR Gluck office schedules a chat meeting or an audition meeting.
  3. Student prepares their program and auditions their program in the UCR Gluck office.
  4. If the program is approved, student provides a description, biography and signs paperwork, including reading the OPA! handbook.
  5. OPA! fellows are scheduled by the UCR Gluck office for one or more event. The Gluck office will organize venues, dates, and confirm bookings. Mosaic and Spotlight on Hope activities are organized by the student leaders.
  6. Student performs their program at the scheduled time.
  7. Student completes the online evaluation form and gets paid $120 per event through the UCR office of financial aid.
